The Eye Crawler
A downloadable game for Windows
Enter the Abyss. Master forbidden magic. Do not let the Eye find you.
The Eye Crawler is a first-person roguelike deckbuilder and dungeon crawler set in a dark fantasy world ruled by an undead tyrant.
You play as Liluth, a young elven mage searching for her imprisoned brother beneath the kingdom of Rozaria. Armed with a mysterious grimoire connected to Trau, the blind goddess of fate, Liluth must explore dangerous dungeons, defeat undead creatures, collect spells and survive the gaze of the Lich King Chercob.
But the longer you remain inside the dungeon, the easier you become to find.
Current test build
The Eye Crawler is currently in active development.
This version is an early playable build created primarily to test:
- Procedural dungeon generation
- Dungeon exploration and pacing
- Card and enemy balance
- Combat difficulty
- Spell combinations
- Alert and pursuit mechanics
- Overall gameplay clarity
The current build includes:
- Procedurally generated dungeons
- 49 playable spell cards
- 6 enemy types
- 1 dungeon boss
- First-person grid-based exploration
- Turn-based card combat
- Six interconnected schools of magic
- Alert and Paranoia systems
- The Crawling Eye pursuit mechanic
Content, values and difficulty may change considerably during development.
Development and placeholder art
The game is being developed primarily as a solo independent project.
Many of the current visual assets, animations, environments and interface elements are temporary placeholders created to test the gameplay systems.
An artist has recently joined the project and has begun producing original artwork to gradually replace these temporary assets. Visual quality and consistency will improve throughout development.
The current build should therefore be evaluated mainly as a gameplay and systems test rather than as a representation of the final visual quality.
Build your grimoire
During each run, you collect spell cards from six Arcane Schools:
- Evocation
- Transmutation
- Abjuration
- Illusion
- Conjuration
- Necromancy
Playing spells in the correct sequence creates Arcane Resonance, increasing the power of each consecutive card.
Repeating schools, skipping parts of the sequence or moving backwards around the Arcane Wheel can break your combo or cause Dissonance, increasing the Mana cost of your spells.
Building a strong deck is important, but understanding the order in which your cards should be played is the key to surviving deeper sections of the dungeon.
Explore a dungeon that watches you
Move through procedurally generated dungeons in first person, one grid space at a time.
Search for rewards, new cards and safer paths while deciding how much time you can afford to spend exploring.
Your actions increase the dungeon’s Alert level. As Alert rises, spells may become unstable and the dungeon begins to react to your presence.
Eventually, the Crawling Eye awakens.
It moves through the dungeon while you explore, following your trail and forcing you to choose between searching every room or escaping before it reaches you.

Feedback
This test build is intended to help improve the procedural dungeon and combat balance.
After playing, feedback is especially helpful regarding:
- Whether the dungeon layouts are interesting and understandable
- Whether individual runs feel sufficiently different
- Which cards feel too strong or too weak
- Which enemies feel too easy or too difficult
- Whether spell combinations are clear
- Whether the boss encounter feels balanced
- Whether the Crawling Eye creates tension without becoming frustrating
- Bugs, control problems or performance issues
Your feedback will directly influence future balancing and development.
Build your deck. Control your fear. Escape before the dungeon looks back.
